Games console technology has become more and more prominent in home entertainment in recent years. 
Games consoles have evolved into multimedia centres which offer similar functionality to standard computer equipment. 
As such, it is possible to retrieve evidence of activity such as Internet browsing and image storage from modern games consoles. 

Games consoles which contain forensically retrievable data include, but not limited to, the following:


                - Sony Playstation 3

                - Microsoft Xbox 360

                - Nintendo Wii

                - Nintendo DS / DSi / 3DS

                - Sony Playstation Portable


New technology such as the Microsoft Kinect and Playstation Move add camera functionality to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 respectively. 
These products allow users to take pictures and, in conjunction with some video games, videos. 
Forensic recovery of these images and videos can help to substantiate or rebut alibis, show association or show evidence of criminal activity.
